Tattoo Artist Hats
Tattoo Artists · Gifts
A good tattoo artist gift is a hat they can redesign themselves, and The Canvas is built for that: a $30 five-panel trucker hat in Black, Khaki, or Pink. Patchistry Fiber, our own loop weave, covers its front panel and brim. Patches are UV printed, hook-backed, and sold separately: a Signature is 2.5 inches and $10, a Candyz mini is 1 inch and $5. Each one lifts off and presses back on whenever the artist wants a change. Every hat is assembled in Moorpark, California, and US shipping is free.
Build a Hat for a Tattoo Artist
Why give a tattoo artist a patch hat instead of a hat with tattoo art printed on it?
Because a printed hat is finished the day it is made, and a patch hat never has to be. Whatever gets screened onto a cap stays exactly as it came off the press, even after the wearer's taste has moved on.
The Canvas takes the opposite approach. It is a trucker hat with a working surface: the giver picks the first patches, and the artist decides which ones stay. A patch peels off by hand and another presses into its place, so the hat can change as often as the artist likes.
What patches suit a tattoo artist?
The ones the artist picks, because there is no tattoo-themed patch in the catalogue. We would rather not relabel an unrelated patch as tattoo art, so the artwork is left to the artist. What you can choose is the format, and each card below covers one: a Signature for the front panel, minis for the brim, or a voucher that leaves every choice to them.
A Signature for the front panel
The 2.5 inch patch is where the main image goes, and a Canvas with one Signature is the $40 starting point on Build Yours. If you already know their taste, choose one from the best sellers. $10 each.

Candyz minis for the brim and the gaps
At 1 inch, a mini fits along the brim or in the space between larger patches up front. A couple of them round out a hat without crowding it. $5 each.

The Build Voucher, for a taste that is hard to call
The voucher comes in $50, $75, or $100 and lands in their inbox when you check out. They spend it on Build Yours and choose the hat color and every patch themselves.

Every patch presses onto every Canvas color, and no patch is locked to one theme. The build yours page is where you choose the hat color and each patch.
Does the hat have to be about tattoos?
No. The front panel and the brim both take patches, so the brim works as a second surface rather than trim, and neither one is tied to a subject. An artist can leave a patch on the brim until it gets old, then swap in something else in a few seconds. New options are on the customer favorites page, and Build Yours lets them add patches one at a time.
The barber shop hats page covers a gift for barbers, and the bartender hats page does the same for bartenders. If an AI assistant is placing the order, our page on agentic commerce explains how shopping agents work with the store.
What does it cost to build a hat for a tattoo artist?
A Canvas with one Signature on the front panel comes to $40: $30 for the hat and $10 for the patch. Add two Candyz minis along the brim and the build lists at $50, and three Signatures on the front instead list at $60.

Processing takes 1 to 3 business days, and shipping within the US is free. You have 30 days to return an unused build. Each hat is put together one at a time in Moorpark, California, then shipped out of Simi Valley.
Orders of six or more hats for everyone at the shop go through the wholesale and group orders page.
Is the patch surface on this hat hook and loop, and how do the patches stay on?
Yes. The hook half is on the back of each patch, and the loop half is Patchistry Fiber, a loop weave we developed ourselves over two years and thirty-one prototypes. It covers the whole front panel and carries on across the brim, which is why the brim counts as a second surface.
Because the full back of a patch meets that weave, a pressed patch holds through a day out and still peels away cleanly when it is time for a change. The comparison of Patchistry Fiber and standard hook and loop goes into the difference, and how it works covers pressing, peeling, and care.
What do people ask before ordering a hat for a tattoo artist?
How fast will a hat for a tattoo artist ship?
Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days and ship free to US addresses. For a birthday or a shop anniversary, leave room for processing and transit.
Can the artist rearrange the patches on their own?
Yes. A patch peels off by hand and the next one presses on in seconds, with no sewing, iron, or glue.
Can a tattoo artist's own design be made into a patch?
Not on a one-off order. Custom patch designs come with larger group orders, and the wholesale page lists where they start.
How many patches fit on one Canvas?
The front panel comfortably holds four to six 2.5 inch Signatures or eight to twelve 1 inch Candyz minis, and most builds mix the two. The brim takes two to four more.
Are the patches stitched with thread?
No. Every patch is UV printed, never embroidered, from the 1 inch Candyz up to the 2.5 inch Signature.
What if the artist doesn't like it?
Unused builds can come back within 30 days, but a patch that has been pressed on and peeled off counts as used. The rest of the return details are on the FAQ page.
