How Patchistry Works — attaching, swapping, caring for patches
How it works — step by step
Attach. Wear. Swap. Repeat.
Patchistry uses a custom loop-weave surface called Patchistry Fiber across the front panel and brim of every Canvas. Patches attach with a hook backing. Here's exactly how to use the system — and how it stays looking new for years.
How to attach a patch
Three steps. Total time: under 30 seconds.
Choose where the patch goes.
The entire front panel of The Canvas is loop-weave — plus the brim. You can place the patch anywhere on either surface. There are no pre-determined slots. Most builds anchor the bigger Signature patches on the front panel and accent with smaller Candyz around them or on the brim.
Line it up and press.
Hold the patch by its edges. Position it where you want, hook-side down. Press firmly against the hat with your thumb or palm — you'll feel the hook backing grip into the Patchistry Fiber loop. Press for 2-3 seconds to set it. That's it.
Verify it's seated.
Run your thumb across the patch edges, especially the corners. The patch should feel flush with the hat. If a corner lifts, peel and re-press. A properly seated patch will hold through pool days, beach days, light rain, and the inevitable hat-grabbing moment.
How to swap a patch
Two seconds. No tools.
Peel from a corner.
Grab any corner of the patch you want to remove. Pull straight up and toward you. The hook-and-loop separation makes a satisfying ripping sound — that's normal, that's the system working. The Canvas underneath stays untouched.
Press the new one in its place.
Or anywhere else on the hat. The whole panel is loop, so you're free to reposition every patch in your build during a swap. Many customers do a full re-build every few weeks just because the mood shifted.
How to clean the hat
Spot-clean first. Hand-wash if needed.
For small spots: damp cloth + mild soap.
Most everyday marks (sweat, makeup, food) come out with a damp cloth and a touch of mild dish soap. Blot, don't scrub. Air-dry.
For a full wash: peel patches first.
Remove every patch from the hat. Hand-wash the canvas in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent. Rinse, gently squeeze out water (don't wring), and air-dry on a hat form or upside-down on a bowl.
Re-attach patches once dry.
Once the canvas is fully dry, press your patches back on. The loop weave's grip is unaffected by washing.
Avoid the washing machine. The agitation can stress the Patchistry Fiber loop weave over many cycles. Hand-washing once a season is plenty for most wearers.
