A hiking hat earns its spot by keeping sun off your face, taking sweat without falling apart, and surviving a pack lid. Ours is called The Canvas. It is $30, in Black, Khaki, and Pink. What makes it different is the front: the entire front panel is the loop surface, so a patch presses on across the whole face of the hat instead of sitting in a small stitched square. That loop weave took two years to get right in-house: it has to hold through a sweaty climb and still peel off one-handed. Khaki reads cooler in July. Black hides trail dust.
How do you collect trail patches without ending up with a drawer of hats?
You keep one hat and rotate the patches on it. Signature patches are $10 each and hook straight onto the front panel, so the hat you already broke in becomes the hat for whatever you are hiking this weekend. Unlike a permanently embroidered logo, nothing is final, and you never have to decide at checkout which version of yourself gets stuck on a hat forever. Patches are hook-backed and grab the full front panel, not a two-inch square, so the thing holding one on is the size of the hat face. That matters under a hood or a shifting pack strap. No adhesive to dry out, no iron-on film to bubble, no stitching to pick loose. If a patch gets knocked crooked on the way down, press it flat and keep walking. The faces are UV-printed.

Will a patch come off while I am hiking?
The patch backs onto hook-and-loop across the entire front panel, so the grip area is the size of the panel rather than a badge. Wind, hoods, and pack straps push on it and it stays put. If one sits crooked, press it flat again with your thumb.
How many patches should I start with?
Three is the number that works for most hikers, which is why The Weekender pairs the Canvas with three patches for $55. One rides on the hat and the rest live in a pack lid. Signature patches are $10 each after that, so you add one when a trail earns it.
Can I swap a patch out mid-trip?
Yes, and it takes seconds. The hook back lifts off the loop panel and presses straight back down, with no glue, no ironing, no sewing. A patch you pull at the summit goes back on in the parking lot with one hand.
