Does it have to stay a ski hat?

No. The patches lift off and re-press, so the Canvas that wore the mountain in February can wear a lake patch in July. The graphic is a decision you get to revisit.

What does it cost to build?

The Canvas is $30. A Signature patch is $10 and a Candyz is $5. One Canvas with one Signature is $40. One Canvas with three Signatures is $60 before the volume meter: 10% off at 3 patches, 15% at 5, 20% at 8. That is the only price break we run.

Is the patch surface hook and loop, and how does a patch hold?

In principle, yes. Each patch has a hook backing and the hat has a loop face. Press them together and the hook grips. Peel from a corner and it lets go.

The loop face is not an off-the-shelf panel stitched to the front. It is our own weave, Patchistry Fiber, and it covers the front panel and the brim, so a patch can sit on either.
