Brewery & Craft Beer Hats

For the brewery owner, the homebrewer, or just the guy who knows what an IPA actually is. The hat is a $30 blank canvas with a hook-and-loop front panel. The patches press on, pull off, and go back on in a couple of seconds, so one hat can say something different every week.

What makes a good brewery hat?

A good brewery hat says something specific instead of repeating the logo that is already on the glass, the can and the sign out front. Most taproom merch is interchangeable with the brewery two exits down the road. Ours starts with The Canvas, a $30 hat whose entire front panel is loop fabric. A hook-backed patch presses anywhere on that panel and holds. Because the swap surface is the whole front and not a small patch square, the art is big enough to read from across the bar, which is the only place a beer joke has ever worked.

What do you get a homebrewer who already has all the gear?

Get a homebrewer something that changes, because they already own three hydrometers and a shelf of carboys they will not throw away. A $10 Signature patch like Brewtally Honest keeps doing work, since it lands on a hat they already wear instead of joining the pile of equipment. If they do not have the hat yet, the $55 Weekender is The Canvas plus three patches. Unlike a permanently embroidered logo, nothing gets locked in on day one.

Can a brewery use these as taproom merch?

Yes, a brewery can put its own art on the patches and run the hats as taproom merch, and group and bulk builds go through our wholesale page. The useful part for a small brewery is that the hat is the durable piece and the patch is the small one. A seasonal release, a collab can, an anniversary, a beer that existed for one weekend in October: each becomes a $10 patch instead of a fresh hat order sitting in a box in the back. Our Custom Patch Hats guide covers the art side.

How much does a brewery patch hat cost?

The Canvas is $30, Signature patches are $10 each, and the Weekender bundle of one Canvas plus three patches is $55. US shipping is free on orders $5 and up, and since the cheapest thing we make is a $10 patch, that means every order. We process orders in 1 to 3 business days and ship from Southern California.

Questions we actually get

Do the patches actually stay on?

Yes. The patches are hook-backed and the hat's front panel is loop fabric, so they grip the way hook-and-loop grips anything else. We spent two years engineering that loop weave in-house so the hold is tight enough for a patio in the wind and still lets you pull a patch off with one hand.

What colors does the hat come in?

The Canvas comes in Black, Khaki and Pink, all $30. Black is the safe taproom answer. Khaki reads a little more grain-sack and warehouse, which suits some rooms better than black does, and Pink is there for people who came in wanting Pink.

How many patches can one hat wear?

One hat carries as many looks as you own patches, because the front panel is the swap surface and patches come off clean. Buy the hat once and the collection grows sideways. That is the difference between this and a drawer of single-joke hats.

Can I order enough for the whole staff?

Yes. Group and bulk builds go through the wholesale page rather than the regular cart, so we can sort out counts, patch art and timing before anything gets made. Start there and tell us how many people are behind your bar.

Outfitting a whole crew?

Everyone builds their own hat, and the more hats in the cart the less each one costs. Nobody has to agree on a design, and nobody ends up with the hat they didn’t pick.
